because I know everyone was holding their breath
I passed! The iron test, that is. My iron count was just over threshold, and I gave blood successfully!
Then I ate a giant cheeseburger and had a peanut butter milkshake. Yar.
So glad to tell you the sacrificing caffeine seems to have paid off! Or at least it didn't hurt.

Oh, the irony!
Congratulations. I don't like the Other Me who manifests when I'm decaffeinated, or I'd follow your excellent example.
A giant cheeseburger and a peanut butter milkshake? How funny. I had the same thing for dinner tonight. ;)
YAY!!!
But how do you make a peanut butter milkshake?
Josin--no idea. But if you figure it out, let me know :)
So do you stay off the caffeine now, or go back?
Hey, congrats!
And peanut butter milkshake? That sounds amazing, I clearly need to try one sometime.
Congratulations! I knew you could do it!
That's huge! I astral travelled some iron over to you - the reverse vampire. I have tears, it worked!
Yay!
And to make a PB milkshake, wouldn't you just put milk, ice cream and pb into a blender and mix? Maybe mix the milk & pb before adding the ice cream?
Ooh, congratulations!
And here is a link to a recipe, but it's a peanut butter AND jelly milkshake and it's to die for! Add additional peanut butter and jelly to taste. I usually add a tsp of vanilla essence as well :)
Enjoy!

Congrats! I'm glad to hear that you were able to donate. :)
you had me at peanut butter milkshake.
Awesome!!
Congratulations! I haven't been able to give for the past few years...my iron is too low accoring to Red Cross, but not my doctor.
I believe everyone donation helps five people! Three cheers for you EA!
Derek--I don't know! Because I've gone to the trouble of breaking the addiction now. But the thing is, I really do like a tasty cup of coffee now and then. Maybe I'll drink for fun but not survival.
Speaking as someone who is still addicted, I say hold out as long as you can (even if it's only a day)!
You know, I actually have checked back periodically to see how it went. Awesome. Glad it was worth it. :)
I am having to come away from caffiene. My body is fighting it. I admire your stamina, and can only say, I am trying.
Well done!
Try adding 1.5 heaping tablespoons of excellent quality espresso powder to 3/4 lb of decaf and mix well.
It gives the decaf a tiny kick in the tongue and only adds the approximate equivalent of one shot of espresso - about 130mg of caffeine to 3/4 lbs of coffee.
Important to know: more is not better (only bitter) and you have to mix the grounds very well before you make the coffee so the espresso powder is evenly distributed.
Huh, I always go for the cheap drunk after I donate. *snort* yeah, I know they tell you not to drink, but I've been doing it (donating/drinking) for years! I'm over the 10 gallon mark.
Very glad to hear that you're back to your "level" best dear. Sorry for the awful pun. I'm in a mood today.
